Stretch Marks…Curable? by Sunny Marshall0

Stretch marks…ick! Just those two words send me back six years. I was almost eight months pregnant and was so huge I couldn’t see my toes. We had no long mirrors in the house, so I would ask my husband regularly if he could see any stretch marks on the underside of my big belly. He always said no. Then one day I was at a friend’s house and found a long mirror in the bathroom. I lifted my shirt to inspect my belly and gasped…it looked like Freddy Krueger had taken his nails and scratched all the way up my stomach. Red, purplish lines almost half an inch thick covered my belly. After I got done yelling at my husband for being blind or perhaps entirely too kind, I immediately started doing research to figure out how to make these marks go away!

Let me reassure you that from all of the reading I have done, and I’ve done a LOT, stretch marks are not your fault. They are influenced by hormones and genetics as well as skin stretching, and we all know we can’t control our genetics. I can’t tell you how many people have asked me, “Didn’t you use cocoa butter when you were pregnant? It prevents all stretch marks! I know someone who used it twice a day and never got one.” Well, lucky them, but it was most likely NOT the results of the cocoa butter but of their own natural body chemistry.

There are some studies that have shown vitamins and creams, as well as diet, WILL reduce your chance of getting stretch marks and reduce the amount you get, but today I’m going to focus on what to do if you already have them.

Now, for some bad news. There really is no way, outside of surgery, to make stretch marks disappear completely. Over time, the red and purple color will fade to a lighter color. When I learned this unfortunate truth all I wanted to know was how to speed the process of fading so the stretch marks were barely visible. I tried a lot of products and found one that worked for me, one that I have recommended to many friends going through the same thing: Cosmetyn.

Within DAYS of using Cosmetyn I noticed the purple color fading. That was good enough for me, but I was also noticing that my skin felt tighter and softer. I could tell you all the reasons why, but honestly, words like collagen and trypsin are lost on me, I just wanted my skin to look better, and it did!
